On Thon (Na Thon)
It is a city-port known for the wonderful declines (in a photo just one of them). Official bodies, immigration department, glavpochtamt, the main police administration and offices of the basic banks - all it is here. Zdest also there is a landing stage for express ferries and passenger ferries which vessels from Surat Thani (Surat Thani) come. Here not so it is a lot of sights, except for, perhaps, old tikovyh at home in the Chinese style, and musical representations which pass every evening.
Hua Thanon (Hua Thanon)
The biggest mooring for the fishing ships on island is in area of a Muslim community (Moslems who migrated here from Pattani, the province adjoining on Malaysia) here live. Here you can see their special, brightly painted, boats.
Falls To us Muang (Nam Muanc Waterfall)
The falls are in 10 kilometres from On Thona, in area Ban Thurian (Ban Thurian). In this place there are two falls - falls To us Muang the First (Nam Muang One) - 18 metres in height, on top it is possible to call in on the car, and falls To us Muang the Second (Nam Muang Two), height about 80 metres, and on top it is possible to reach on foot, approximately for half an hour.
«A paradise garden» (Heaven’s garden)
Highly in hills there is whole unique «a gallery of arts», creation tajtsa by name It Tongsuk (Nim Thongsuk) which, at the age of 77 years, has decided to create a small slice of paradise on the earth, hoping, that tourists will estimate not only its creations, but also surprising beauty of green hills. In the tideway of the river, at hill top, he has created tens the sculptural images cast by motives of the Buddhist writing.
Unique way to reach here – through jungle, through the rivers and mountains, on a jeep. The road from temple Lamaj (Lamai temple) will occupy from you about 2 hours and if you wish to reach here independently, you should be very skilled driver, with driving experience on a cross-country terrain. Tourist trips to these surprising places also will be organised by travel companies and hotels. Some sculptures are located on open sites, others happens difficultly to notice, because it is necessary to look attentively under feet. Therefore prepare - survey of this place will occupy from you a lot of time.
Stones «the Grandfather and the grandmother» Hin That of Oozes JAj (Hin Ta Hin Yai)
These surprising rocks have been created by the nature, under the form they remind man's and female genitals and stones "grandfather" and "grandmother" are called Hin That and Hin JAj, or. This site of island tourists very like to photograph. The local legend says, that once the ship on which there was elderly pair, has broken about rocks, and married couple bodies have turned to freakish rocks. Stones are to the southwest from Lamaja.
Theatre of Monkeys (Monkey Theatre)
On island Samuj of a monkey are the best friends to the person. Small monkeys train, that they could show representations and collect cocoes. The entertaining program also includes show of elephants.
Fights of Buffalo s (Buffalo Fighting)
This favourite representation on island. Pair of man's individuals of the Asian buffalo s converge in a duel – struggle by heads. It is safe enough kind of sports and though blood sometimes spills, serious uvechy buffalo s do not receive. One of stadiums where similar actions are carried out, is on CHavenge, and are some more scattered on island.
Farm of Butterflies (Butterfly Farm)
Among tropical thickets of this farm you can see set of butterflies. Butterflies live not for long. In total about 2 weeks, therefore on a farm are engaged in cultivation of butterflies, and you can see a large quantity of larvae, dolls and already generated butterflies. The farm is in the island southeast, opposite to hotel Central Samui Village. The farm is opened for visitors daily, from 9 mornings till 6 evenings.
Snake Farm (Snake Farm)
On this farm located on beach Talingngam (Talingngam), visitors can see 10 kinds of snakes, and also centipedes, scorpions and lizards. Special shows with scorpions, centipedes and cobras are spent also. Time of carrying out of show: 11 mornings and 14:00, daily.
Trips on elephants
While you on island, necessarily try to drive on an elephant on tropical jungle, and you can see all magnificence of this island covered with hills. The usual trip lasts half an hour, but you can agree and about longer walk. Island Samuj aquarium
It is a unique private aquarium in Thailand. The excellent collection of exotic fishes and mammals - here is even sharks. The aquarium is located in area Lem Set (Laem Set), in hotel Samui Orchid Resort, ph. 077 424 017.
Temples
On island there are some interesting temples. « The big Buddha »is a 12-metre gold image of the Buddha on the Beach of the Big Buddha (Big Buddha Beach). Temple Vat Pra JAj (Wat Phra Yai) is on highway 4171, near to the airport. Here there is a coral Buddha, and the temple is located approximately in 800 metres from Hua Thanon (Hua Thanon). In temple Vat Samret (Wat Sumret) there are many images of the Buddha, including one"laying"Buddha, and the highest, standing Buddha in height of 3 metres, this statue has been brought from India. The most remarkable construction in a temple Vat Lem Sol (Wat Laem Sol) is skilfully decorated chedi, located at a water edge. The temple is between Ban Tale (Ban Tale) and Ban Pang Ka (Ban Pang Ka). The temple with prints of feet of the Buddha also is of interest for tourists. In this modest temple at mountain top there are four prints of feet of the Buddha, from top the remarkable kind on a vicinity opens. This temple is in two kilometres to the West from turn on the Farm of Butterflies if to go on highway number 4170. It is considered, that in temple Vat Force Ngu (Wat Sila Ngu) are hallows of the Buddha, gold chedi the finding of this temple which grandfather and the grandmother »is near to stones« designates.
